Colaiacavo is a good D-man who has bad luck with injuries if he can train hard and stay healthy any team would benifit from his service.
What is a guy like that worth though, and is the price going way up now that the stars are gone. - wolfos412
Tough call, as you said it depends on the need of a team and the prices being paid league wide. For someone like Carlo who fills minutes but dosnt necessarily have the ability to change games, it wont be too much.
If Jbo is moved, I think he would be a nice addition for the Flames to steady the defense. Although, I very much doubt he's still available by the time the Flames do decide to move Bouwmeester...if that time does come, of course. |

Well the guy puts up 30 points a season while only playing 60-70 games a year. If he could have a full season and was consistantly effective, then I don't think you need a game changer. Trade Jbo and get him so you fill his boots 3/4 of the way and also stock up on prospects etc... stock up without dropping the team talent too far sounds like a good idea. |

Flames should have an eye out for a top line center. You can't compete in the NHL without depth down the middle! |

This is certainly true...however given that Bouwmeesters time in Calgary may be numbered, you also need to think about how his deletion from the roster may affect the team.
While moving him for an upgrade up front would certainly help, it may consequently hurt the defense...and acquiring a guy like Carlo could help. |

I think I'd rather not consider C.C. If it means we have to consider moving T.J. Brodie as you alluded to. |

I dont know...given the need down the middle, and likely what that may cost(cap space/assets), CC would certainly be a cost effective addition to support the backend... |

not getting the assumption that Bouwmeester won't be in Calgary this fall. he's still on the roster with camps set to open in a bit over a month. it should be clear by now that no one's taking that contract. |

I believe the team should fire sale, so I am all for trading Jbo.
Along with Iggy, Kipper, and anyone else of value for promising prospects.
Bring the kids up, let them play and learn the game, draft high for a couple years and then you'll have a playoff team if you did it right. |

If he can be had for low term (1 or 2 yrs.) and a friendly cap hit, I say go for it. Even if we can't make a trade with Jbo right now, the deadline always has teams looking for upgrades & depth in the defence department. If he fits under the cap, comfortably, sign him and continue looking for that trade that will bring in a 1st line C. |

If you sign CC now, then there will be more of a need for Jbo as well right? |

I think that would be a bad move on the Flames part. Colaiacovo is going to get a pretty hefty salary and the money that you would save on the cap hit would not be worth it. Jbo far better than Coli and plays all 82 games. I think its a move the Flames would regret. - Iggysbff
far better in skill? i dunno, hes also paid quite a bit more.. |
